Sunday, February 10, 2008.

Staging:
Victory Parking at the corner of Market Street and St. John.

Time:
Please arrive at the staging area before 9:00 a.m.Inspection will begin at 10:00a.m.

Car Parking:
Park your car in the Market and San Pedro garage across the street.

Bus Parking:

Leave your group at the Victory Parking and move your bus to the waiting area.

Check-in:
Please check in at the information desk to locate your designated assembly area.

Route:
Starts at Market and St. John Streets at 11:00 a.m.Finishes at Market and San Carlos Streets.

QUIET ZONE:
Between Post and San Fernando Streets. Please stop your music.

Arm bands:
All number armbands shall be worn forward on the right arm biceps.

Viewing Stage:
Market St. and Park Ave, next to the Tech Museum.

IMPORTANT:

ALL FLOATS AND DECORATED VEHICLES MUST HAVE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS.

VIETNAMESE SPRING PARADE
GENERAL RULES AND GUIDELINES

ENTRY SELECTION: All parade entries are subject to approval by the VSF committee.  All entries are selected on their performance quality, cultural value, significance and appearance.

MARCHING MUSICAL UNITS: School bands, drum corps, independent bands. Marching musical units are requested to perform the 1.0 mile parade route. 

DECORATED FLOATS: Professional and self-built floats are accepted. Floats must be a fully decorated trailer that is self propelled or pulled by a vehicle. Tractor trailer trucks will not be allowed. ALL FLOATS MUST HAVE APPROVED FIRE EXTINGUISHERS.

COSTUME UNITS: Groups of people in uniforms or national costumes. All members must remain in a uniform formation at all times. All costumes must be in presentable condition.

EQUESTRIAN: Equestrian teams, horse drawn carriages. Unit must have control of their horse at all times.  Any animal deemed unsafe in the parade will be removed. Unit must take care of their horses.

DECORATED VEHICLES: Vehicles considered for entry must be antique or uniquely decorated.  Commercial business vehicles are not allowed. The blowing of horns in the parade is prohibited.  ALL VEHICLES MUST HAVE APPROVED FIRE EXTINGUISHERS.

STAGING: All entries must arrive at the staging area by 9:00 a.m. and sign in at the information desk to locate their position in the procession.  No entries will be allowed to enter the staging area after 10:00 a.m. All entries must stay in their designated position at all time.

ENTRY NUMBER: You will receive a confirmation packet with your entry number when you sign in.

START TIME: All units must be in their position and ready to move at 11:00 a.m.  All units are encouraged to bring their rain gear.

FORWARD MOTION: All entries are required to maintain a continual forward motion during the parade.  Parade officials may change pace or stop forward motion to maintain suitable space between entries.  

QUIET ZONE: All entries are required to stop all musical instruments when passing by the church at the corner of Market and St. James.

IDENTIFICATION SIGNS: Identification banners are encouraged for entries in the parade. The LISTING OF TELEPHONE NUMBERS OR ADDRESSES ON A BANNER WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.

CANCELLATION POLICY: If your unit is not able to participate in the parade after being accepted, please contact the parade staff at least 2 weeks in advance. Last minute cancellation will disqualify your participation in the future.

ENTRY APPLICATION FORM: The entry application form must be completed and signed with the understanding of the general rules and guidelines. The parade staff reserves the right to reject any entry at any time and all decisions are final.

SCORES: VSF judges will grade each entry according to their categories.  The final scores will be announced at the award ceremony after the parade.
